ROLL THRU PAYOFFS AND TAKEUPS

MGS / HALL Roll Thru Payoffs And Takeups are designed for optimum ease and safety of reel handling with minimum use of floor space.  We offer three models:  Standard, Traversing Reel, or Traversing Frame.  Each model is available in six standard sizes, (72, 84, 96, 108, 120, and 144 inch), to accommodate a wide range of reel types and widths.  Machines can be supplied with Dancers for precise tension control and Accumulators for continuous operation.  Our Roll Thru Payoffs and Takeups can also be custom designed to specific Customer requirements.

Standard:
This model is equipped with a conventional digital traverse mounted on the Takeup frame.  Installation requires only a simple "bolt to the floor" procedure.

Traversing Reel (Portal-On-Beam):
The complete carriage assembly supporting the reel traverses within the frame as a unit.  Traversing Reel models are used for zero fleeter angle and feature easy "bolt to the floor" installation.  Extended frame models with unload position are available.  This style provides the most precision at turn points, as only the mass of the reel and carriage moves.

Traversing Frame:
This unit is equipped with wheels to operate on a floor track.  A channel section accommodates a wheel with a center flange on one side and a flat track with a flat wheel on the other side.  Track sections are set flush in the floor to permit passage of reels and forklift trucks.  Traversing Frame models are also used to obtain zero fleeter angle.

FEATURES

Reel Lift Operation And Reel Lift Adjustment
Each side is separately powered, and lifts or moves by means of an Acme screw.  There is a control station on both the drive side and the idle side.  Limit switches are provided.

Pintle Shafts
Pintle shafts are of stress proof steel operating in sealed ball bearing pillow blocks.  The shaft ends are counterbored to accept different reel size adapters.  The shaft ends can be changed by removing two Allen screws.  One set of adapters will be supplied to your specifications.

Traverse
Our digital traverse control system allows the operator to set the product diameter directly on the operator interface.  this gives a very accurate traverse, regardless of speed, and is not affected if the unit is stopped and started during the run.

Rapid traverse allows the operator to move the reel to either side for starting.  It can also be used to override the control while running.

OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT

The following options are available to enhance the functionality of our Roll Thru Payoffs and Takeups to meet your application requirements:

Swing Up Light Curtain
A swing up light curtain can be provided to automatically traverse the Payoff reel to keep the product on centerline.  The light curtain would swing up out of the way when not in use.

When used as a Takeup in a Payoff/Takeup combination machine, the operator will string the product under a guide sheave assembly mounted to the light curtain bar.

Automatic Lubrication System
Automatic lubricators for the lift and in/out Acme screws will be provided in a place of the standard manual lubricators.  The amount and frequency of lubrication is programmed into the PLC.

Tilting Touchscreen
The center mounted pendant arm can include a center joint to allow movement closer to the machine when running smaller reels.  The touchscreen is mounted in an enclosure that can be tilted for easy viewing.

Automatic Pintle
Height Setting And Unload
Balluff sensors can be installed on assemblies to sense the pintle location.  The PLC will automatically unload a full reel, and set the reel pintle height after loading an empty reel, via the recipe system.  This feature allows the operator to perform other functions while reels are being positioned for unloading and loading.

Spring Arm Loaded Reel Drive Arm
Spring loaded reel drive arms for spoke process reels can be supplied to automatically clamp around the spokes of the in-plant process reels.

The clamp end is removable to allow use of wooden shipping reels.
